Registration
Content Courses
It is mandatory that you register for credit on the University SMART system. If you fail to register for credit your stipend may be withheld.

SFU Courses
It is optional to register for credit on the University SMART system. If you denote on your application that you want to take the course for credit, you will  be sent a call number. You will still receive a stipend if you are from one of the seven partner districts if you do not  register for credit.

Prerequisites
In order to take a course you must have the proper prerequisites. Please preview the prerequisites before submitting your application. If you haven’t taken the prerequisite from RM-MSMSP we need to know the date and name of the university or college where you completed the course. Please put this information in the comments section on your application. In some instances, the instructor will allow you to take a class if you do not have the prerequisite either from the grant or another university. S/he will do so only if you can demonstrate that you’ll be capable of successfully completing the course and not detract from the learning of other participants.

Absences
Content Courses
Face to face

Participants are allowed one pre-approved absence during the content course semester, but the time and work must be made up. Each absence after the first one will result in $250 taken off each time. Time and work must be made up for each absence.

Online

Participants are allowed two pre-approved absence during the content course semester, but the time and work must be made up. Each absence after the second one will result in $250 taken off each time. Time and work must be made up for each absence.

SFU Courses

If a SFU session is missed, the teacher relinquishes $250 of the stipend and must make up the work.  Course work missed must be made up by the participant, as deemed appropriate by the instructor(s), to the order of six extra hours on their time and effort reporting.  Participants must attend a minimum of three of the four Saturdays to receive credit and the stipend.  More than one absence results in a forfeiture of the entire stipend and credit.

Tuition Costs
You will be charged tuition at a rate of $100/credit hour for face to face classes and $200/credit hour for online classes when you register for Rocky Mountain Middle School Math and Science Partnership courses (you are required to register to attend the courses). Each summer course is 4 credit hours so you will be charged a total of either $400 dollars or $800 dollars for each course.

Tuition Billing
The University will bill you directly for tuition. You can pay the bill by logging in to the SMART system (similar to how you registered for classes) or wait for the university bill to arrive in the mail. If you pay for the bill online, then you need to select “Account Balance” tab. If you just registered, then your account may not yet reflect what you owe for tuition. Check back in a day and your account should reflect what you owe for the course(s) you registered for. If you wait for a bill in the mail, please note that it may take 2 to 6 weeks for the bill to arrive depending on when you register and where the University is in its billing cycle. With specific questions about your bill, please contact the University Bursar office at 303-556-2710.

Paperwork for Stipends
For information on stipends, go to Stipend.

If you are eligible for a stipend, then you will be given documents to complete during your class. Specifically, you will need to complete a payment voucher form and a W-9. We wait to submit your paperwork for processing until after you successfully complete the course. After the class ends and we submit the paperwork, it generally takes 4-6 weeks for the stipend checks to be processed and sent to you in the mail.

Commitment statement
By registering and participating in the course(s) listed in this message, you are committing to fully participating in the summer course(s) and (if in a partner district) the corresponding structured follow-up(s) in the fall or spring. Your stipend will not be awarded until the successful completion of the summer course and the additional stipend will not be awarded until the successful completion of the structured follow-up. As part of your participation in the course(s), the Rocky Mountain Middle School Math Science Partnership requires that you participate in the necessary evaluation of this research grant. This may include pre-and post-tests, questionnaires, observations, and other forms of evaluation.

ADD/DROP DEADLINES
If you add any courses through the SMART registration system and then decide to drop the course. You MUST drop the course through the SMART system. DEADLINES! If you don’t drop through the SMART system, then the course will stay on your record and you will have to pay tuition.

Below are the add and drop deadlines for your course(s). Check your course listing to find out in which session your courses(s) are scheduled. If you do not add by the deadline, then there may be a delay in issuing your grade and you may have to complete additional paperwork to add the class. If you do not drop/withdraw the class by the deadline then you will still be responsible for the tuition fees (university policy) and you may get a grade of “F” automatically added to your student record (university policy). So please carefully abide by the deadlines below.

If you need to drop a RM course please notify our office immediately. If you’ve already registered for the course on the University’s SMART system you must drop it online there. You are not automatically dropped from the class after notifying our office, you are only taken off of our databases. We cannot administratively drop you, you must do it yourself. You will be responsible for the tuition If you fail to drop the course on the SMART system BEFORE the deadline posted on our calendar and communicated to you in numerous emails. If you miss the deadline for an SFU course you will need to complete the Schedule Adjustment Form found under Participation Forms. Fax the form to us and we’ll sign it then send it to the correct registrar contact. If you miss the deadline for a Content course you will have to submit a full petition to Dr. Tammy Stone the CLAS Dean. As of Fall 2008 her office notified us that they will no longer accept Schedule Adjustment Forms from our grant, because of their high use in the past. We will not award stipends to individuals who fail to add the class on time, regardless of their attendance.

The Add and Drop deadline for Summer 2009 is June 14, 2009.
